Pirates Lane Video is a Boston area video production company owned and operated by Jim Merchant which specializes in wedding and event videography.  Based on the North Shore we serve the Greater Boston Area as well as most of New England.  At the start of 2010 Pirates Lane Video opened for business offering a combination of artistic sensibilities and cutting edge technology at a very competitive price point.  Pirates Lane Video quickly established a reputation for top notch customer service.  This combined with an intense focus on detail, wide range of packages and our up front pricing have quickly established us one of the premium videography services in the Boston area and earned us a 2011 Brides Choice Award from Weddingwire.com.

Jim Merchant is a married father of three beautiful children.  Growing up on Rocky Neck in Gloucester, surrounded by art galleries, he was always interested in all things creative and studied art, photography and music.  While he aquired his first video camera in 1999 it wasn't until 2004 when making a short promotional documentary for a local artist that he considered video as a potential means of producing serious creative work.  Still, the standard definition and tape based technology that was affordable at the time made it somewhat impractical.  Finally, in 2009 Jim began planning Pirates Lane Video which would utilize an all HD tapeless workflow and non-linear editing to offer high quality film like videography at reasonable prices.  Jim is the principle videographer at Pirates Lane Video as well as the editor.

Our cameras and audio all use SDHC flash memory cards for a tapeless workflow which combined with our Sony Vegas Pro non-linear editing system allows us to achieve relatively quick turnaround times.
